Paramesh System from Maccaferri for the Bajo – Malawatar Road Segment
The Bajo - Malawatar road, approximately 60 km long, is a main access road that requires protection due to a landslide that occurred in October 2022. Several cracks appeared on the edge of the road, indicating that the area is prone to landslides. A Retaining Wall using the Paramesh system from Maccaferri was chosen as the solution to protect approximately 72 meters of the Bajo - Malawatar road segment.
The Bajo – Malawatar road, approximately 60 km long, is a main access road that connects the Bajo and Malawatar districts. This road section requires protection due to landslides that occurred in late 2022.
As a result of the landslide that occurred in October 2022, several cracks appeared on the edge of the road, indicating that the area is prone to more landslides. Therefore, immediate handling is necessary, considering that the road will always be active for community mobilization and daily activities. The Paramesh System from Maccaferri was chosen as the solution to protect approximately 72 meters of the Bajo – Malawatar road segment.
All stability checks for the structure were conducted using Maccaferri’s in-house software (MacStars). Additionally, Maccaferri provided the client with a Product Assistant to ensure compliance with Mandatory Standard Procedures.
The retaining wall structure for the Bajo – Malawatar road section was built using the Paramesh System with a height of 8.5m. It consists of the Terramesh®️ system as the face and secondary reinforcement, which is then combined with Paragrid™️ HF 150 – a geogrid with a tensile strength of 150 kN/m – with a length of 7m as the main reinforcement for the structure. Maccaferri Indonesia proposed the use of Polimac Coated Wire for the Terramesh®️ System as protection against corrosion, abrasion, and UV exposure. The use of this material has proven to be more effective and efficient in terms of construction time and cost.
