Challenge

A soil slope along the newly developed Jalan Kampung Bawong to RPS Legap, Perak, Malaysia is causing an obstruction during heavy downpour due to erosion. Debris and mud from the slope often being washed down at the location and the client intend to develop this new route to cater for the convenience of the local native tribes (Orang Asli). The client suspected that it was a slope failure but after thorough investigation, it was only surface erosion and it needs to be treated.

Solution

Maccaferri used SGHR reinforced with MacMat which is an erosion control mat is built to address the issue. as the slope is more than 45 degrees in gradient, Maccaferri MacMat is reinforced with SGHR to have better surficial strength to prevent erosion from happening. Top anchor along the necessary areas of the SHGR MacMat is needed to ensure the netting does not collapse in time due to heavy down pour and the connection between panels remain intact. There is an estimated 8000 square metre of 5 different slope areas being covered with this system and the project took approximately 1 month to complete.
