BUILDING OF THE HEAD OFFICE- GROUPE CHARIER

Problem

Charier, a family-owned public works group, is moving its head office from Montoir-de-Bretagne to Coüeron, west of Nantes, where a showcase building has been constructed. For the design of this building with 2,658 m² of floor space and an 80-space car park, two symbolic materials were chosen: stone and wood. Two facades are composed of 13-metre-high gabion walls.

Solution

As part of this project, the company France MACCAFERRI created a facade cladding and a set of free walls in electro-welded gabions. The gabion cladding is 0.3 m thick, and a set of 0.5 m thick loose walls were built around the cycle park. The electro-welded gabions meet the aesthetic and technical requirements of the project, creating harmony between the building and its surroundings. The mineral cladding is connected to the rear structure using fixings (anchor bolts, threaded rods with chemical sealants, bolts/nuts, etc.) adapted to the type of support (solid concrete, concrete with external insulation, metal structure, etc.). The gabion wall was installed by Maccaferri’s teams in accordance with the NFP 94325-1 installation standard and Asqual certification for gabion structures (ROG).
