SHAWNESSE BLVD
Challenge
The multifamily development at 55 Shawnee Blvd SW required a solution for a north-facing slope with a 2H:1V gradient and maximum height of 7.0 m along the south property line. Without intervention, the slope posed risks of global instability, sliding, and overturning, especially under seismic loading and seasonal moisture changes.
Solution
To address the stability risks posed by the steep 7 m slope, Englobe—the project’s geotechnical engineer—implemented a three-tier gabion retaining wall system reinforced with Maccaferri’s high-performance MacGrid WG geogrid. This solution provided superior structural integrity, optimized reinforcement, and long-term durability under challenging soil and groundwater conditions.
