Our solution utilized gabions to provide much-needed drainage in the area without sacrificing design
Due to poor drainage and excessive rain, rocks from roadside slopes would fall into the roadway creating hazardous conditions for the public. Property owners in the area were against the construction, so we worked to provide a solution that would be both cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing.
The city of El Paso, Texas, was facing a major safety hazard. Along Robinson Avenue and Kingery Drive in El Paso, poor drainage and excessive rain often lead to rockfalls from the hills surrounding the area, creating a dangerous environment.
Residents in the area recognized the need for a solution, but were reluctant towards construction in their community. The solution needed to be cost-effective, but also aesthetically pleasing to appease residents in the area.
Maccaferri worked with the designer, Moreno Cardenas Inc., to provide a solution to meet these demands.
The solution was to utilize double-twist wire gabions to create a drainage drop structure, to better manage drainage in the area without sacrificing design.
What really sets this project apart is the craftsmanship the contractor showed when installing the gabions.
