Green Solutions for Flood & Erosion Control was the topic discussed in the third mailing.
In another case study from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, a solution for fast growing urban areas with an ever expanding pavement/concrete footprint has caused water runoff to be an increasing problem.
Limestone filled gabions were installed directly after the wing walls to hard armor the slopes. In order to make the project more cost effective, the owner and engineer decided to use MacMat R8P to reinforce the very steep slopes. The MacMat R, while saving the contractor time and money, would also allow vegetation to establish which created a “green” aspect that concrete would not.
