Due to the size of the site and its natural sloping topography, extensive earthworks were required to prepare the land for construction. A large cut-and-fill operation was undertaken to optimise plot layouts and create a more level development platform.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of these groundworks, a significant level difference of up to 5 metres was formed along the western boundary of the site. This introduced the need for a stable and cost-effective solution to support a steepened slope while maintaining long-term structural integrity and minimising environmental impact. The challenge was to deliver a slope stabilisation system that could accommodate site constraints, reduce material import, and integrate seamlessly into the landscape.<\/p>\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<div class=\"container-full text-bocolor-block-green\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-12\">\n            <div class=\"container box-container\">\n                <div class=\"row\">\n                    <div class=\"col-12\">\n                        <h3>Solution<\/h3>\n                    <\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>    \n    <\/div>\n        <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-12\">\n            <div class=\"container box-container\">\n                <div class=\"row\">\n                    <div class=\"col-12 content\">\n                        <p>To overcome the level difference at the west end of the site, a reinforced soil slope solution was designed and constructed using the Green Terramesh system. A 70-degree face angle was selected to maximise land use while maintaining slope stability, making it an ideal solution for residential developments with space constraints.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key benefits of this approach was the use of site-won material, classified as 7D, as structural backfill. This significantly reduced the need for imported granular fill, delivering both cost savings and a lower environmental footprint. To address the high moisture content of the on-site material, lime treatment was applied to improve its workability and compaction properties, ensuring it met the required engineering performance standards.<\/p>\n<p>The reinforced soil slope was constructed using Green Terramesh units in combination with ParaGrid geogrid reinforcement. The Green Terramesh system is a vegetated reinforced soil solution with a BBA HAPAS-certified 120-year design life, making it suitable for long-term infrastructure and housing developments.<\/p>\n<p>Manufactured from double-twist steel mesh, each Green Terramesh unit features an integrated fascia and geogrid tail, allowing for rapid installation and effective soil reinforcement. The fascia includes an integral erosion control mat, which promotes vegetation growth and enables the slope to achieve a natural green finish, even at steep angles.<\/p>\n<p>Additional structural components, including a welded mesh panel and internal bracing struts, provide face stability during construction without the need for temporary support systems such as shutters.
