The route where this occurred was not safe to use and had been closed ever since.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Dumfries and Galloway Council\u202fwanted to re-open the road for ease of access for drivers to get to destinations when other roads were congested. The landslip had corrupted a\u202f<strong>high pressure<\/strong>\u202f<strong>water main<\/strong>\u202fand natural drainage lines, rendering the road completely unfit for use. The council appointed\u202fRH Irving\u202fas contractor and designers\u202fFairhurst\u202fto come up with a feasible solution to\u202f<strong>reinforce the slope<\/strong>\u202fto support the road. Maccaferri were approached to give a solution for the remedial works and suggested our\u202f<strong>Green Terramesh<em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em>\u202fSystem<\/strong>\u202fwhich would incorporate the natural surroundings of the site.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The\u202f<strong>Green Terramesh<em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em>\u202fsystem<\/strong>\u202fis a reinforced slope design that uses pre-fabricated mesh baskets with an erosion control blanket which is then filled with backsoil and used in conjunction with one of our high strength geogrids \u2013\u202fParaGrid<em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em>. The angled front face with the erosion control blanket (Biomac) is designed to establish natural vegetation which is the important requirement for\u202f<strong>Green Terramesh<em><sup>\u00ae\u202f<\/sup><\/em>.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The job has been completed as you can see in the above photos. The\u202f<strong>Green Terramesh<\/strong><strong><em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><strong>\u202fsystem<\/strong>\u202fhas vegetated beautifully and over a short amount of time.
