    In this highway project located in the greater area of Kastamonu, significant structural challenges occurred due to the region’s geological characteristics. During the excavation of the slope, numerous discontinuities and cracks were identified. These issues have posed a significant threat to road safety and structural integrity. The recurring rockfalls have increased the safety risks associated with the project. Therefore, a high-strength and durable engineering solution has been required to address these challenges effectively.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    In order to resolve the issue, the slopes were analysed and the solution was to cover the slopes with Double Twisted Wire Mesh in order to prevent small debris from falling, as well as a second layer of high capacity ring panels in order to prevent bigger rocks from falling. This solution aimed to stabilize slope’s surface in order to prevent surficial rockfalls. Additionally, all slopes were individually examined from a geotechnical perspective and further measures were implemented based on the specific conditions of each slope locally. Where necessary, surface anchoring was applied alongside the ringnet installations, enhancing the overall safety of the slopes.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>
