As part of the 140th Anniversary celebrations, Maccaferri decided to support a young skipper who will leave for the Mini Transat, a sailing regatta starting from La Rochelle on September 22nd
Supporting an artist committed to protecting the oceans against plastic pollution, planting trees all over the world through the initiative “Roots for the future”, sponsoring a young Italian skipper who will leave from La Rochelle, France, on September 22nd for 2019 Mini Transat: these are some of the activities that Maccaferri Group decided to organize this year to celebrate its 140th anniversary while supporting the environment.
Founded in 1977 by Bob Salmon, the Mini-Transat will celebrate its 42nd anniversary and, this year will host 84 runners of about fifteen different nationalities. This 4.050 nautical miles solo crossing, on the smallest offshore racing boats -only 6.50 m long-, is sailed in two legs: the first one from La Rochelle to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the second one from Las Palmas to the Marin, in Martinique.
Among the participants, the Italian skipper Luca Rosetti, that Maccaferri has chosen to sponsor this year, as part of the various activities carried out for the 140th anniversary of the Group.
The Mini Transat has always been committed to the environment, and especially to the oceans, the “playground” of the race. In fact, it is a member of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of business that understands the necessity of protecting the natural environment. It also collaborates with Surfrider Foundation and ECOLE de la Mer which have been fighting for years to preserve the quality of the oceans and coasts by raising awareness, particularly among the younger generations.
