Motorway secon Split-Plo\u010de in Croatia passes through difficult mountain terrain. For the construction of a retaining wall on the highway section Split-Plo\u010de has been chosen the Terramesh system, because of flexible space modification of its facing part. The Terramesh system consists of modular prefabricated blocks fabricated from double twisted steel wire mesh with mesh opening size 8×10 cm. Standard diameter of the mesh wire is 2,7 (internal) \/ 3,7 (external) mm. The system was developed for reinforced wall applications with gabion facing. Gabion facing and the horizontal reinforcement are connected together during the production and are forming a compact system. Based on static calculations were designed 5,0 and 9,0m lengths of the horizontal reinforcement. Individual gabion units are connected together along all edges with high resistance steel C-rings at a maximum distance of 15cm from each other, to build a compact system. The total length of the wall is 90,00m in height from 12,00 do 17,00m.
