Agreement with the Moroccan group active in the real estate sector for a new Italian majority company
Maccaferri and the Société Marita Immobilière (SMI), a Moroccan holding which operates in the industrial, real estate, energy, environmental, mobility and education sectors with 7.600 employees and an investment plan of 1.7 billion euros up to 2023, signed the agreement for a joint venture.
The agreement provides for the creation of a new company owned by Maccaferri (55% of shares) and SMI (45%). The total value of the investment is approximately 8 million euros, which will be used for the construction of a factory to start a steel mesh, gabion and Reno Mattress production line. The headquarters of the plant will be located in the industrial area of Rabat.
“Today’s agreement is the end of a journey that has started long ago” – said Maccaferri’s Chairman, Alessandro Maccaferri. “This is the first investment that Maccaferri achieves in the Maghreb area and I was positively impressed by the professionalism and experience of our partners. I am convinced – concludes Maccaferri – that this joint venture represents a springboard for the North African area that we look at with growing interest.”
“The agreement is part of the vision of the Marita Group to develop the production of specialized materials and infrastructures in Morocco for the activities of the group, in line with its sustainable development plan” – added Rahal Boulgoute, President of Societé Marita Immobilière. “The investment concerns a first production plant in Salé that will benefit from all the expertise and knowledge of Maccaferri, the world leader in the field. I am also convinced that this joint venture is just the beginning for the implementation of new projects that will enable both companies to extend their market and expertise in all the African regions in which they operate.”
