Maccaferri held its first run of the Maccaferri Technical Training Series entitled “Principle and Practice in the Design and Construction of Mechanically Stabilized Earth Wall last July 9, 2019. Key contractors in slope protection and ground improvements and private real estate developers from a number of different companies attended the training.
The objective of the training is to equip participants with the necessary skills and tools to select, specify, design and construct MSE (mechanically-stabilized earth) walls and RSS (reinforced soil structure) embankments.
The training further aligned design engineers with Maccaferri’s MacStars design software and our full range of advanced solutions for creating MSE walls. Specific emphasis was placed on the use of System Terramesh and Paramesh. ParaMesh is a composite soil reinforcement system using System Terramesh to form the facing elements with the aesthetic features of the gabions and ParaLink 200 & 100, a high strength polyester geogrid as the primary reinforcement.
Maccaferri plans to expand this training initiative to cover the ‘Prevention and Mitigation of Surficial Erosion and Rockfalls on Unstable Slopes’ and ‘Prevention of Coastal ’ in the coming months.
