Maccaferri Philippines teamed up with Save the Children Organization to help the children and families affected by Typhoon Odette

Maccaferri supports the disaster relief operations in Visayas and Mindanao, which aim to provide immediate help to the most vulnerable families affected by Super Typhoon Odette.

In December 16, 2021, Super Typhoon Rai, locally known as Odette, hit the islands of Visayas and Mindanao. The Super Typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h and gustiness of 260 km/h, brought storm surges, severe winds, flooding, landslides, and torrential rains.

Approximately 16 million people in 11 regions in the Philippines have been affected by this catastrophic event. Our fellow Kababayans have been impacted by supply disruptions, insufficient potable water, shortages of food, no power supply, and damaged infrastructure.

People’s livelihoods and incomes have been severely disrupted as over 79,600 hectares of crops and more than 598,000 houses have been destroyed. Access to clean water has also been impaired as water supplies have been contaminated by flood and sea water, increasing the danger of communicable diseases. In addition, health care facilities, educational institutions, and public transportation are also severely impacted.

Maccaferri Philippines has teamed up with Save the Children Org Philippines, one of the world’s leading non-profit independent organization, dedicated to supporting and protecting children and families in need. One of the organization’s initiatives is the humanitarian response that aims to provide life saving assistance to children and families affected by disasters.

As of January 7, 2021, with Maccaferri Philippines and other corporate and individual donations, the organization has reached over 10,400 individuals, including 3,200 children and 2,000 families, who have been provided with clean drinking water, essential hygiene supplies, and household kits such as utensils, mats, and blankets and plastic sheets for temporary shelter.

We also encourage everyone to help those in need, as these families still have a long way to go to recuperate from the damage inflicted by Typhoon Odette. These families continue to require assistance.

Every donation counts. Let’s give these families a glimmer of hope in these difficult times. To send donations, you may visit the following links below or contact corporateteam.ph@savethechildren.org
