Bukit Nanas is one of the oldest forest reserve in the country.
It is a nature trail located in the middle of the bustling city centre.
In May 2013, the hill slope collapsed, burying several cars in its devastation. Rectification works started in the mid of 2014. In order to blend into its natural surroundings, the client (KL City Council) wanted green solutions.
Maccaferri’s Reinforced Enkamat was chosen for its engineering qualities in slope protection and surficial control matting to encourage the vegetation process.
Interestingly, while rectification works were being carried out, an ancient tunnel was found. It stretches 10m from Bukit Nanas to the Klang River. It is believed that the Mandahiling community used this narrow tunnel as an escape route during the civil war in the 19th century.
