The excavated slopes consist of heterogeneous and fractured materials with reduced inherent strength, making them vulnerable to shallow failures.<\/p>\n\n<p>During heavy rain, surface erosion, raveling of loose rock, and localized detachment of weathered material were observed. These issues not only threatened the long-term integrity of the slope but also posed safety risks to road users through potential rockfall and debris accumulation on the carriageway.<\/p>\n\n<p>With increasing traffic demand and the need to ensure uninterrupted road operation, a durable and reliable surface stabilization solution was required.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Solution<\/h3>\n\n<p>To address these challenges,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maccaferri.com\/my\/products\/macmat-hs\/\">MacMat\u00ae HS<\/a><\/strong> was selected as the primary surface-strengthening system.<\/p>\n\n<p>MacMat\u00ae HS combines a three-dimensional polymer geomat with high-strength steel mesh, delivering both erosion control and mechanical reinforcement. Installed directly onto the slope face, the system effectively confines loose and weathered material, preventing raveling and small-scale detachment.<\/p>\n\n<p>Its high tensile capacity allows it to bridge minor discontinuities and restrain unstable surface layers, reducing the risk of shallow failures.
