Maccaferri’s rockfall meshes used with erosion control geomats in prestigious hillside development
Kingsley Hills is a prestigious new development offering luxurious elevated living in Putra Heights, not too far from Subang Jaya, Selangor. The slope of the hill needed an intervention to protect the neighbourhood from rockfalls. Maccaferri proposed a solution combining its MacMat geomat in conjunction with Steelgrid HR100, a high tensile strength rockfall mitigation mesh.
Kingsley Hills is a 92-acre mixed development and part of B&G Corporation. It is set amidst the beautiful hills of Bukit Cermin in Putra Heights, within the municipality of Subang Jaya. It is a quiet and serene area offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area, thereby enhancing its exclusivity.
However, the same rocky slopes that provide elevation and exclusivity also brings with it the dangers of rockfall and slope failure that threaten the safety of commuters and the neighbourhood.
Our high tensile strength geocomposite Steelgrid HR100 plays an important role in containing loose rocks and stopping them from falling, while our MacMat geomat protects the vulnerable soils on the slope face by preventing surface erosion by run off. As 90% of the volume of MacMat is void, it contains topsoil fill to maximise the potential for establishing vegetation on the slope. Steelgrid HR is a double twist steel wire mesh reinforced with steel wire cables, offering high tensile strength with low strain, and a high punch resistance; ideal to contain rocks on vulnerable slopes.
The combined system was secured to the slope with anchors.
The project was started at the end of 2016 and is scheduled for completion early this year.
