A Safer Road for the Orang Asli

Our gabions were used as toe protection within the road improvement works to Pos Kuala Mu, a remote Orang Asli settlement. A polymer coating was added for an improved environmental performance

The Perak State Government has decided to upgrade the main access road to the Orang Asli village of Kuala Mu, Sungai Siput, Perak. The number of fatal accidents caused by the muddy and uneven road surface persuaded the authority to take the necessary actions to improve the conditions of this mountain road. For this project, we supplied polymer coated and heavily galvanized gabions, respectively used to build an embankment and to work as a toe protection. With the help of our on-site technical supervision and support, the construction was fast and could be completed even before the expected deadline.

The Perak State Government recently launched an initiative to improve the life quality of the Orang Asli local natives living at Pos Kuala Mu, a remote settlement, located at around 50 km from the town of Sungai Siput.

Among the innovations brought to the village, there is a solar energy system, cellular connectivity and, last but not least, the upgrade of their main access road. The muddy and uneven access road to Kuala Mu caused several fatal accidents and the local authority has decided to construct a safer road for the Orang Asli.

The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) has decided to use our polymer coated and heavily galvanized gabions to serve as a toe protection for the designated road.

Our gabion baskets are made from high quality steel wire mesh and polymer coated to provide long term corrosion protection when used in aggressive environments.

On site assistance and support were provided by our technical staff in order to ensure an appropriate and effective installation.
