Civil engineering students received an introduction to Slope Protection and Erosion Control systems from Maccaferri experts
Maccaferri was privileged to give a presentation to final year civil engineering students of the University Putra Malaysia (UPM); a leading research university located in Serdang, next to Malaysia’s administrative capital city, Putrajaya. We were invited to present an introduction on slope protection and erosion control solutions.
University Putra Malaysia (UPM) was formerly known as the School of Agriculture when it was founded in 1931. Today, the university combines impressive modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and research with its proud heritage of quality services and achievements. The university is also recognised by the independent government assessments as one of Malaysia’s leading research Universities.
At the end of 2016, Maccaferri was invited to give a presentation to UPM’s final year Civil Engineering students. In collaboration with UPM’s Faculty of Engineering, representatives from several other departments were also invited, including the Geotechnical Department, the Structural Department, the Water and Hydraulic Engineering Department and the Environmental Engineering Department.
Attendance exceeded expectations and garnered much enthusiasm from the participants. The content of the presentation mainly focused on retaining wall systems, slope erosion control and rockfall protection. As a leading technical reference in these areas, we gladly shared the know-how gained both in Malaysia and the rest of the world. In a rapidly changing world it is important for engineers to evolve with clients’ needs and be a trusted solution provider.
UPM’s respective Heads of Department expressed their appreciation to our experts who, in turn, felt honoured to be given an opportunity to impart their knowledge to our future young engineers.
