Maccaferri keeps its commitment into knowledge sharing, seminars and open sessions for engineering professionals
Maccaferri conducted a knowledge sharing session on “Sustainable Solutions for Slope Stabilization” on 10th March 2016 to consultants and clients in Nashik, Maharashtra.
Most of the attendees were from the Public Works Department, Nashik. Active participation and interaction with the engineers ensured discussions on case studies like Rockfall Protection works at Sapthashrungi Gad Nashik; Landslide Mitigation works and Rockfall protection works which are under progress along Mumbai-Pune expressway. Here proven systems like High energy Absorption panels, Rockfall Barriers along with Drapery system are being installed at identified locations on the famous Expressway.

The phase 1 of the Sapthashrungi site securing has been completed. 25,000 square meters of Rockfall Protection works have been implemented and for the first time in the history helicopters were also utilized.
The Mumbai-Pune expressway, a nearly 100-km-long, six-lane road, was built in 2002. It usually sees high traffic over the weekend, with people travelling from Mumbai to Pune and vice-versa. In monsoon months of year 2015, series of landslide hit this 100km long expressway and there were 3 deaths.
Other interesting case study which grabbed the attention and became a topic of discussion was Pavement stabilization for a creek road project for R&B Department of Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Series of problems like embankment confinement, ground improvement, separation, filtration, drainage and asphalt reinforcement were addressed with meticulous study of input data and strong design.
