Strong interest shown in our VP Ms. Minimol Korulla’s keynote speech on the geotechnical requirements of mining projects
The theme of the 6th edition of the annual mining conference held by India Infrastructure Publishing was “Increasing Productivity and Efficiency: New Requirements and Solutions”. The event took place on April 18-19th, 2017 at The Imperial, New Delhi. Strong interest was shown in the keynote speech on “Understanding Geotechnical Requirements for Mining Projects” given by Ms. Minimol Korulla, Vice-President-Technical, Maccaferri Environmental Solutions.
Last month, India Infrastructure Publishing held their 6th annual conference on Mining Technology in India with the theme “Increasing Productivity and Efficiency: New Requirements and Solution”. The conference aimed to highlight the latest innovations and most promising and relevant technologies for the mining sector in India.
Ms. Minimol Korulla, Vice-President-Technical, Maccaferri Environmental Solutions was invited to present an expert lecture on “Understanding Geotechnical Requirements for Mining Projects”. The session focused on the choice of mining technique/equipment and solutions to address the key geotechnical challenges involved. The presentation interestingly started with the Northern Coal Fields project, Singrauli in India, describing about our approach to find the most suitable solution for this project. The importance of geotechnical investigations in analysis along with their deliverables in mining projects was then presented.
Co-speaker Mr. Dinesh Singh Kolar presented other relevant topics of geotechnical investigations, sampling/testing, geophysical, geotechnical instrumentation, refuse disposal and choice of mining technique/equipment related to mining projects.
Ms. Minimol Korulla concluded the lecture sharing her remarks on the geotechnical challenges involved in mining projects, mentioning the necessity to use custom designed solutions to address complex problems.
The audience included Mr. Peeyush Kumar, Director, Technical, Ministry of Coal and Mr. Subhash Chandra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines, who respectively presented their perspectives. The top management of renowned mining bodies and consultancy firms such as Coal India, Hindustan Zinc, National Aluminium Company, Adani Mining, ABB Enterprise Software, ISM, academia and other experts delivered lectures related to the various aspects of mining.
The audience proactively participated in an interactive Q&A session with Ms. Minimol Korulla at the end of her presentation and shared their experiences related to geotechnical engineering aspects. Several delegates also participated in the following networking session, expressing their interest in our solutions for the mining sector and others.
