The IRC brought together members from different sectors to tackle road infrastructure problems
The event aimed to promote and encourage the science and practice of building and maintenance of roads. To provide a national forum for sharing knowledge and pooling experience on the entire range of subjects dealing with construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.
The 77th Indian Road Congress has been held for the first time in 18 years in Hyderabad, Telangana. Hyderabad is the sixth largest city in India, and one of the most prominent economic hubs in the country. The city is home to many large research and scientific institutes including the National Academy of Construction and the NICMAR chapter and is the headquarter’s for infrastructure, construction, technical and design companies.
The 77th IRC event was set up to bring members of these institutions together to share knowledge and pool experience. The Roads and Buildings Department of the government of Telangana was the main supporter of the prestigious event that is being held at HITEX, a renowned exhibition and events venue.
Maccaferri took part in the event, where activities have been divided into two categories: Technical Sessions & Commercial Sessions.
The technical workshops were designed to engage experts of highway engineering and provide a national forum for sharing knowledge, understanding trends and deliberating on challenges.
The commercial sessions focused on the topic of transportation infrastructure. This year, the convention has been attended by a high level of consultants, designers, companies and end-users..
