The reservoir built since 2016 has a series of benefits, ranging from agricultural irrigation, horticultural plantations, to raw water for residents. The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, stated that the provision of water facilities and infrastructure includes the construction of reservoirs for water and food security. The water reservoir will support the development of a food estate in Gresik with mangoes as the main commodity. &#8220;I request that more greening be done around the reservoir, especially since the location is close to mango plantations,&#8221; said Basuki, quoted from the PUPR Ministry website, Monday (22\/08\/2022).<\/p>\n\n<p>The Director of Groundwater and Raw Water at the Directorate General of Water Resources of the Ministry of PUPR, Agus Rudyanto, stated that the water reservoir has a flooded area of 28.65 hectares. The total storage volume from reservoir pond 1, reservoir pond 2, reservoir pond 3, and the settling pond is 1.6 million cubic meters. &#8220;This reservoir is intended to meet the agricultural water needs for an irrigation area of 2,233 hectares,&#8221; he said. Agus mentioned that from the total irrigation area of 2,233 hectares, 250 hectares will be planted with mangoes by PT Galasari, the manager of the mango plantation. The remaining approximately 1,900 hectares will be allocated for other horticultural crops for the local farmers.<\/p>\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the Sukodono irrigation is divided into three blocks: left, middle, and right. &#8220;The left block is for irrigation land covering approximately 900 hectares. Currently, BBWS Bengawan Solo has built an irrigation network consisting of about 36 boxes to distribute water,&#8221; explained Agus. The Head of the Bengawan Solo River Basin Organization (BBWS), Maryadi Utama, added that besides irrigation, the Sukodono Reservoir is also for supplying raw water at a rate of 30 liters per second for 9 villages located in two sub-districts.<\/p>\n\n<p>However, there was a landslide on the access road around the Sukodono reservoir area, due to the area&#8217;s clay soil being prone to erosion, necessitating further protection to address the landslide in that region.<br>by addressing the landslide, the operation of the reservoir can be maximized as a source of raw water for the food estate plantation program and also for the residents&#8217; clean water<\/p>\n\n<p>Currently, in 2022, rehabilitation of the embung is being carried out to address landslides using Maccaferri&#8217;s solution in the form of hydraulic works combined with the terramesh system on the parts of the embung that have experienced landslides. This solution is used as additional reinforcement on the access road embankment. The system uses gabion and reno mattress plus materials with a treatment length of 50 to 200 meters, and an average height of 9 meters.
