Bener Dam is a dam project built in Purworejo Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. This dam is one of several national strategic projects that aim to improve irrigation, control floods, and have a storage capacity large enough to meet raw water needs in the area.<\/p>\n\n

At Bener Dam, an access road will be built connecting the main dam and quarry. This road will transport material from the quarry to the main dam. Without this access road, backfilling at the main dam cannot be carried out. The construction of this access road involves a filling process and requires a retaining wall filled with soil. Initially, this retaining wall was planned to use concrete, but another solution was needed that was safer and more cost-effective.<\/p>\n\n

To overcome this problem, the MSE Wall solution with a back-to-back system is applied to the access road which has a length of around 150 meters with height variations between 8 and 20 meters. The selection of this system is based on the special characteristics of the access road which does not have slopes along its route. This lack of slope means there is no natural barrier on either side of the road, which would normally help hold back soil. Therefore, a solution is needed that can provide maximum stability.<\/p>\n\n

The back-to-back structure on the MSE Wall is designed to support embankment from both sides equally, allowing the desired elevation to be achieved without the risk of landslides or land shifts. Thus, the MSE Wall can withstand large ground pressure and provide long-term stability.<\/p>\n\n

Apart from that, this solution also allows construction to be carried out faster and easier compared to conventional methods. Installation of the MSE Wall does not require the use of intensive heavy equipment, thereby reducing operational costs and speeding up processing time. By considering safety factors, cost efficiency, and construction speed, MSE Wall with a back-to-back system is the right choice for the construction of an access road for the Bener Dam project.<\/p>\n\n
