A coastal neighborhood in Metiaut, was struck by tragedy when a devastating debris flow swept through the area, claiming lives and damaging critical infrastructure, including homes and a school located near the slope\u2019s base. The debris also blocked Av. de Metiaut, one of the main roads connecting parts of Dili.<\/p>\n\n

The disaster, triggered by heavy rainfall in an area with inherently unstable geological conditions, served as a harsh reminder of the threats faced by communities living near steep hillsides in tropical regions. As rescue efforts unfolded, it became clear that longer-term solutions were urgently needed to prevent future tragedies of this kind.<\/p>\n\n

A Sustainable Slope Protection Solution<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n
