Pada tahun 2023, Indonesia mencatat hampir 31 juta ton timbulan sampah, namun hanya sekitar dua pertiganya yang dikelola secara formal. Artinya, lebih dari 10 juta ton sampah masih tidak terkelola, yang menjadi beban besar bagi sistem landfill dan lingkungan secara keseluruhan (Katadata, 2024).<\/p>\n\n<p>Banyak&nbsp;lokasi&nbsp;masih&nbsp;menggunakan&nbsp;pendekatan&nbsp;open dumping&nbsp;atau&nbsp;landfill yang&nbsp;belum&nbsp;direkayasa&nbsp;secara&nbsp;optimal.&nbsp;Padahal,&nbsp;tekanan&nbsp;terhadap&nbsp;kapasitas&nbsp;landfill&nbsp;terus&nbsp;meningkat,&nbsp;sementara&nbsp;tuntutan&nbsp;regulasi&nbsp;dan&nbsp;kesadaran&nbsp;lingkungan&nbsp;semakin&nbsp;tinggi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Di&nbsp;sinilah&nbsp;desain&nbsp;landfill&nbsp;terintegrasi&nbsp;menjadi&nbsp;krusial.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Salah satu kesalahan yang paling umum dalam perencanaan landfill adalah memperlakukan sistem pelapis dasar, badan timbunan limbah, dan capping sebagai elemen yang terpisah. Pada kenyataannya, kegagalan jarang terjadi akibat satu pilihan material yang buruk, melainkan karena kurangnya perhatian terhadap bagaimana lapisan-lapisan tersebut saling berinteraksi seiring waktu.<\/p>\n\n<p>Bottom liner berfungsi sebagai penghalang utama untuk mencegah pergerakan lindi ke dalam tanah dan air tanah. Namun, tanpa sistem drainase yang dirancang dengan baik, tekanan air pori yang berlebih dapat terbentuk dan memberikan beban tambahan pada geomembran.
