The 16th Edition of the Italian Language Week in the World is taking place from 17th of October to the 23th of October of this year. The event presents “Italian and Creativity: Brands and Traditions, Fashion and Design”. The week-long event will host:

  • an exhibition of Italian iconic design objects at the Universiti Kuala Lumpur on the 17th
  • a movie screening at the University of Malaya also on the 17th
  • a presentation titled “Italian modern art: from Futurism to our days” on the 18 th
  • 2 presentations on “Italian in the linguistic landscape of Kuala Lumpur” and “The Ideal City” on the 19th
  • presentations on Italian Design and creativity in Malaysia on the 20th.

Among these final presentation taking place on the 20th of October in the Lecture Theatre 22, Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, No. 1, Jalan Taylor’s,7500 Subang Jaya from 9.00 AM to 12.30 PM, Dr. Matteo Lelli (Maccaferri Indonesia) and Dr. Ugo Castellotti (Maccaferri Asia) will hold a presentation on “Steel and Stones – Architectural & Environmental-Friendly Applications of Maccaferri Wire Meshes”.

The presentation will elaborate on how Maccaferri’s gabion units and high strength geogrids function as environmentally friendly and architecturally useful applications. Dr. Lelli will provide attendees with an understanding of how Gabion and Steel Mesh products such as Terramesh can be used as landslides risk remedial solutions, for regenerating the natural environment and as cladding on buildings and other structures.

Versatile and sustainable, these applications not only lead to reductions in terms of CO2 emissions, but also provide designers and architects with a myriad of landscaping, retaining or totally free standing solutions to their queries.

The presentation will include references to specific projects—e.g. “The building that Grows” project in France where the concept of creating a living skin for a building was achieved by merging rocks, steel wire and concrete together.
