Ciawi Dam is a dry dam that was constructed in December 2016 and located in Bogor, West Java. According to the explanation from the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono during his site visit to Ciawi Dam on May 5, 2021, the progress of Ciawi Dam construction has reached 71 percent and the progress for land acquisition has reached 96 percent.
The Ciawi Dam is planned to have a storage volume of 6.05 million m3 and an inundation area of 39.40 hectares. This dam is designed to reduce the flood discharge to Jakarta by blocking the flow of water from Mount Gede and Mount Pangrango before reaching Katulampa Dam which then flows into Ciliwung River. The completion of Ciawi Dam construction will reduce flood by 111.75 m3 per second.

The river diversion structure is constructed using Maccaferri gabion and mattresses called the reno mattress with stone filling as the core. Steel anchors are installed to keep the gabions and reno mattresses in place. Maccaferri Indonesia proposed to use a PVC coating as a protection against river flow, abrasion, and UV exposure. The use of these materials has proven to be more effective and efficient in terms of construction time and costs.
All structural stability checks were performed using the internally developed Maccaferri software (MacStars W and Macra). Furthermore, Maccaferri also provided site supervision for clients and contractors with product assistants to ensure all product installation standards are followed.
