Maccaferri’s products and design know-how were successfully deployed to protect an Indocement production plant in Cibinong, south of Jakarta.
To protect a factory operated by Indocement, one of the largest cement producers in Indonesia, Maccaferri’s Gabions and Reno Mattresses have been extensively utilized in a major erosion control project in Cibinong, south of Jakarta.
To secure protection against the erosion processes affecting the banks of the river that flows adjacent to the Indocement production plant, designers from Maccaferri Indonesia proposed the deployment of gabion walls as riverbank lining, coupled with Reno Mattresses used for surface erosion control.
Indeed, during the rainy seasons, severe erosion processes may occur frequently along the riverbanks, thus threatening the plant structures nearby. For this reason, the ongoing erosion phenomena had to be limited by means of an engineered river lining.
Compared to traditional stone masonry walls, the solution proposed by Maccaferri’s engineers and adopted by the Company securely appears to be more flexible, permeable and durable. To complete the project, the areas interested by occasional flood were also protected by using our 100% natural biomat BioMac along with the application of a mulching on top, in order to rapidly establish the surrounding vegetation.
During the development of the project, which was carried out in the last few months by the contractor Anugerah Alfa Omega, all double twisted products being used were Galfan (Zn+Al) and PVC-coated, in order to guarantee high durability when used in river training works.
In addition, all the stability checks for the Gabions and Reno Mattresses structures were performed by using our MacStars W 4.0 software.
