Marwan Halasa Gonzalez spoke about the advantages of Maccaferri Terramesh, ParaLink and Green Terramesh Systems
Maccaferri Middle East participated at the Iran IGS Chapter together with the Rahyab Sanat Company, on December 7th, 2016 in Tehran. The event aims to connect members of the construction and engineering sectors, and to enable innovation.
Maccaferri Middle East is an active and achievement orientated geotechnical specialist in the region. In November 2015 they won the 1st annual GeoME Awards 2015 in the category “Best Geosynthetics Project” with “The 32m high ‘ParaMesh’ Retaining wall in Al Jais Mountain Road Project, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE”.
Now, Maccaferri Middle East has participated at the IRAN IGS Chapter together with the Rahyab Sanat Company. The event was held at the Iranian Society of Consulting Engineers on December 7th, 2016, in Tehran.
The Iranian Society of Consulting Engineers (IRSCE) is the biggest civil society for consulting engineers in the country. It aims to defend the personal and collective rights of its members and help to develop the field, while also working with government bodies such as “The Organization of Administration and Planning of Iran” in order to establish the necessary legal and regulatory foundations. The IRSCE currently finds itself in a place, where, in order to better execute their mission, they feel the need to clarify their outlook, goals, and strategy among all members of its society. Such individuals include engineers, economists and administrators.
Marwan Halasa Gonzalez, the Dubai based General Manager of MME travelled to Tehran to give a presentation on Maccaferri’s experience in the Middle East and to talk about the advantages of Maccaferri Mesh systems: Terramesh, “Paramesh” (Terramesh and ParaLink) and Green Terramesh.
The systems offer significant advantages compared to traditional retaining systems;
– Very easy and fast to construct
– Flexible enough to allow them to accommodate site topography and accept differential settlements without problems or cracking in the facing.
– No additional material such as steel connectors, clamps or hooks are needed.
– Leveling pads or a concrete footing at the bottom of the wall are not required.
– Rocks produced by blasting and excavating can often be used for filling the Terramesh baskets
– Do not require any moulds, steel bars, concrete casting and curing activities that are time and space consuming
Maccaferri recognizes that new solutions and technologies are constantly evolving and it supports the principal of innovation. Accordingly, Maccaferri holds the IGS Chapters in the Middle Eastern region to be very important institutions that can encourage participation among engineers, so that all may benefit from each other’s knowledge and expertise.
